The Community Health of South Florida Experience:
Increasing Access to Care with FQHC Mobile Medical and Dental Programs

This is the third in FACHC’s webinar series showcasing Florida FQHC models for increasing access to care with mobile medical and dental programs.

Community Health of South Florida (CHI) is one of the largest health centers in Florida, with 11 comprehensive locations serving 75,000 patients annually. Last year they unveiled a new, state of the art dental trailer, which features three operatories for cleanings, basic preventative services, restoration and minor oral surgeries. It has digital x-rays, the latest dental equipment, Wi-Fi and an educational TV system. In addition to offering mobile dental services to its own patients, CHI contracts with other FQHC in their area to make dental services available to their patients as well. In this webinar, CHI leaders will share their insights and experiences establishing and growing their mobile dental program.`

Following this webinar, participants will be able to describe:

  • Services offered by CHI’s mobile dental program
  • How the program operates and sustains itself financially
  • Populations served and key partnerships
  • How CHI staffs it’s mobile dental trailer
  • Challenges, cost and benefits, and return on investment for the program

Host:

Erin Sologaistoa, Director of Community Development and Special Populations at FACHC

Presenters:

Robert B. Johnson, DDS - Director of Dental Services at Community Health of South Florida
